Not to long ago *aka i missed this article* Roxanne Shante showed the world there is life after Hip Hop and how she got her record label Warner Music to pay for her Ivy League education at Cornell. And she recieved her Ph. D in Psychology totalling up to about 217,000.

Feel good story of the year right?

Well there has been some infomation that has come out saying that Roxanne Shante wasnt telling the truth. According to the article

Warner Music, neither it nor any of its subsidiary record labels ever had a contract with Shanté, and it was not obligated to pay for her education. Indeed, there's no evidence that it ever did.

Shanté—real name Lolita Shanté Gooden—doesn't have a Ph.D. from Cornell or anywhere else. Indeed, she admitted it in an interview with Slate. And Cornell has no record of Gooden (or "Shanté") ever attending or receiving a degree.

According to Marymount Manhattan College records, Shanté enrolled there but dropped out less than four months later without ever earning a degree.

New York state records indicate that no one named Lolita Gooden or Roxanne Shanté is licensed to practice psychology or any related field.

Its looks very bad for Roxanne Shante. But before we make up our minds lets think about this. Roxanne has disupted the accusations of her lying citing enrolling under and alias as a result of a domestic violence situation and not wanting to be recognized.

I HOPE that people follow this story through to the very end instead of making up their minds and closing their ears. Roxanne Shante is just as likely to tell the truth as she could be lying.

Personally i hope she isnt lying. For a lot of people there isnt life after Hip Hop and to see this success story was a great thing and im sure put hope in a lot of hearts. To see that dashed against the rocks isn't something i wanna see until all the information is out there. Let remember that this is our sista lets give her our support regardless.

but on a different note...what if cats getting record deals start demanding that their education be funded...think about that.
