*sigh* The BET awards
....i could go all day on my monumental distaste of BET...i really could and the 09 award show just adds to it.
Maybe I'm just unrealistic but is it really to much to ask this country's television purveyors of black culture to actually uphold it in its proper glory and not continually to scrape the bottom of the a barrel to the tritest of material.
my complaints are as follows
1. Production....many times the censors censored the wrong thing. I heard "nigga" and all types of cuss words slip through. But they managed to catch bust it though. Backing tapes could be heard in keri hilson's performance a conspicuous lack of one in the young money performance.
2. Performances....drake needs work lots of work....keyshia cole needs work and singing next to monica did not help at all. Jay Z delivered as to be expected as did jamie foxx, neyo, beyonce, keri did okay, soulja boy (for what its worth), maxwell, guy, bel biv devoe, and keith sweat. Its just the bad was so glaringly bad it made me want to do french hw.
3. MJ tribute...basically overkill. We all love MJ he transcends age and musical taste. but changing the whole direction of the show make it really look sloppy and thrown together and it showed. Imo i felt what Jamie Foxx and Neyo did at the end with a montage would have been all that was needed. even with by itself it was the moment of the show.
4. The bad real bad
I had to walk away from the TV when young money did i wanna fuck every girl in the world and had girls under the age of 18 on stage...
and this 
i sat aghast....i could only think of how much that cost and how much the money he spent of that could have been put to more productive uses
Now the ONLY reason I'm blogging this because as said before BET project "blackness" to the world thus with that hefty weight they have themselves placed on their shoulders if they want to earn the approval of the black community they have got to put their best foot forward. We are already a misunderstood group of people we are already a stereotyped people we are already a community of people who are discriminated against. We dont need BET to perpetuate that. We need BET to do classy things to balance out the foolishness and they didnt deliver last night

BET, unfortunately, is what I believe to be one of the SOLE causes for the downfall of our youth. This rubbish is what kids are growing up on and idolizing. It's sick. And it's not just the BET awards, its the network as a whole. The crap that they idolize is downright sinful in regards to society's well being. I think it's a damn shame that the network's CEO, staff, presenters, stakeholders, etc. don't realize what they are contributing and how they are affecting the African American community as a whole as well as the perception of the African American community....
well we can all put it on BET. like i said its a business providing to the consumer. Just like you cant play common's the light in the club it cant all be incense and beef patties. BET lacks balance and it lack balance because we dont support that programming. Now whether that is a result of people who would appreciate something more intelligent on BET have just tuned out all together or not practicing what they preaching remains to be seen. However i do agree that BET is more about the bottom line than the community.
