Black August
If follow me on twitter @npyhedblkchld
then you know for the past couple of weeks I've been dropping #BlackAugust all through my tweets.
Black August is a term used to Honor the great events in Black Revolutionary History. August Happens to have the Birthday of the Honorable Marcus Garvey, The Assassination Of George and Johnathan Jackson, Khatari Gaulden, James McClain, William Christmas, Emmett Till.
We also dedicate this month to freeing our political prisoners like Troy Davis, Mumia Abu Jamal, and Imam Jamil Al-Amin,
Many of these are individuals are folks and their affiliate organizations are often unknown by the mainstream black community because they were not peaceful or safe. These individuals saw the injustice and went to war against it. I would strongly suggest the following books to increase your understanding
Soledad Brother: The Prison Letters of George Jackson (1970)
and
Blood In My Eye By George Jackson
Its Our History Its Time To Learn It. This is about awareness that means it extends beyond August don't let it die here
