We Have Got To Do Better: Why Black TV Will Never Be Good Enough For Me
Im convinced i will always find something wrong because every show i see fails to appropriately address the issues and intricacies of blackness in this country. We have show like Frankie and Neffe and Tiny and Toya
On every social network that im apart of i see many people talking about how unsatisfactory the show portray our people how such and such isn't right how they dont like this or that person. What i have so much trouble with is for all this distaste we definitely watch every time these shows air.
These Show are all drama and every person i know that says they hate drama are always front in center but thats another blog...
If we are gonna put this stuff on T.V. why cant we get our folk some help. I've seen Frankie and Neffe as well as Tiny and Toya and these women are hurt women that dont really realize the depth of they are going through. And it hurts me to my heart to see my sisters in such pain. I find it kinda sick to watch people hurting and not get them any help.
Im no mental health professional however i can tell you what i see from my viewership of the shows
Tiny- I see Tiny dealing with the loneliness of her man, TI being in prison and the fact that she seems to be overshadowed by his stardom and maybe having some self esteem issues. Keep in mind that Tiny was apart of the R&B group Xscape which got several Grammy nods and won 4 i do believe during the early to mid 90s.
Toya-I see Toya as the all too familiar child dealing with abandonment and issues of self worth. She languishes over the loss her ex husband Lil Wayne (God knows why but hey everybody need love). I believe Toya said on the show that her father was never was present in her life and that she met Lil Wayne when they were very young and he was the first guy to ever tell her "I Love You".
Frankie- is a former drug addict that is seeking to relive all of those years she spent in jail and addicted to drugs. Which explains the wild antics her not really striving to be the mother to her children and repair those relationships that her addiction and incarceration damaged
Neffe- Like Toya (and her sister Keyshia) is another hurt child. Who harbors a lot of resentment for her mother Frankie for not being around and her attempt to fill that void with men which has resulted in 5 kids.
Why cant we get these sisters some help
