To the Burris supports...sometimes it is not about race.
"Roland Burris failed in his bid to take President-elect Barack Obama's Illinois Senate seat on Tuesday in a scripted piece of political theater staged just before the opening of the 111th Congress.
"My credentials were not in order, I will not be accepted, I will not be seated," Burris, 71, told a mob of reporters who had followed him across the street for a news conference in a cold and steady rain outside the Capitol.
Democrats and Obama have said that the corruption charges against Blagojevich would strip credibility from anyone he appoints to the seat. Burris and many of his supporters have suggested that the real reason for the rejection involved race."

This makes me sad. Classic case of being hard headed. Ok you get appointed to the senate by a governer who currently is under investigation for attempting to sell the same seat he has giving you and yet you think it is a good idea to accept and attempt to be sworn in. Causing a media circus and otherwise being a distraction. And because it keeps a black man out of the senate his supporters feel like its a race issue. That ladies and gentleman is reaching.
Politically speaking common sense would have told you not to accept the postion, but to a guy that has lost 3 consecutive elections for public office and all of a sudden gets and opprotunity to be in the senate sure i can understand why Burris would jump at the chance. However, once Burris knew Jesse White the secretary of state of illinois wasnt going to sign the appointment papers. Burris should've had a sit down with White and either waited the situation out or filed suit to force a signature. But going to capital hill like your gonna strong arm the seat knowing you dont have the credentials was a poor choice.
Now due to the ruckus he's caused he doesn't have much of a choice but to file suit because no one is going to be looking to do him any favors after showing out like that on capitol hill.
This isnt about race and keeping a black man out of the senate. This is Burris making bad decisions in a bad situation and isnt helping the public's perception of him or the senate's for that matter. Even if he gets into the senate unless he pulls off something crazy i dont see him getting reelected.
Now do i believe that the seat is lawfully Burris' because Blagojevich despite corruption cloud is still governer and has the power to appoint Burris. Marbury v. Madison says so. Admittedly Blagojevich definately has pair to be making appointments given the situation he is in but it is still in his power as long as he is governer.
Burris good luck
To his supporters...chill
