When You Grow Up These Are Just The Things You Deal With
Toonami is ending its 11+ year run........Its kinda crazy I was there for at least 9 of those years (back when Cartoon Network first came to regular cable). Like when i got the news from a friend of mine Johnny5 (check his blog here) all i could really say was damn.
I had been a faithful viewer since the hyper political Gundam Wing, Reboot aka Nerd Crack, and the 30 minute power up fests of Dragon Ball Z all the way to when the Midnight Run intoduced me to the likes of Inuyasha, Ghost In a Shell, Samurai Champloo, Outlaw Star, TriGun and Cowboy Bebop. Even the newer watered down version still brought the heat with Blue Dragon, Bleach, One Piece, Bo Bo Bo*breathe here*Bo*breathe here* Bo Bo(<----long O sounds btw), and my current favorite Naruto.
I remember when the Blue goo took over ship and the fat version of Tom died then they activated a buff version of him and blew off one of the engines to get rid of it. Then they let the viewers choose what the new engines were gonna look like. They actually had burner play in that lol.
Toonami really opened the door for anime for my generation. I'm really sad to see it go. I met a lot of friends either directly or indirectly because of Toonami. I have alot of great memories from this watching these cartoons with my friends. I remember being super geeked when the new DBZ episodes came out. I remember being super pissed when it would restart all the way back to when Raditz first came to earth. I remember trying to understand Gundam Wing's convoluted political back story and it just goes on from there. I feel like a piece of my childhood is gone....almost like I lost a friend.
RIP TOONAMI
