Concerning Black Love
I put a lot of time thinking on this. In my opinion black love is the beginning of black uplift because black love is the affirmation and love of oneself that has radiated outward. Which means when i look in the mirror and say i love me that includes my culture my ancestors, traditions, and everything else that has made me, who i am. So when you have love for that, its going to radiate outward and lead you to a person who has that love for the same culture, ancestors, and traditions. After all, to love anyone you have to love yourself and to do that you have to know who and what self is. Given the white supremacy and privilege in this country thats rather difficult do to however this is not the only problem w/ which we deal with concerning black love.
The other half is another supremacy. Its called male supremacy. Consider the following. Many males are brought up to protect only the women that are closest to them. For example mothers, grandmothers, sisters, possibly even some friends or "cousins" (related or otherwise). So any women outside of that "family circle" are not under that protective umbrella and thus are now seen as free game. I feel that this protective umbrella covers these women because these are women with which the male has strong emotional non-sexual feelings. The element of male supremacy arises when the male is allowed to treat women outside of his protective umbrella in such a way that would be unacceptable for another individual to treat women w/in his protective umbrella. I call that selective sensitivity. Given the practice of racial isolation black boys are growing up being selectively sensitive about black girls due male supremacy. Another function of male supremacy is that it advocates and celebrates men that have a wide variety of sexual partners often through manipulation and exploitation. Here white supremacy also evident in the fact that often times it functions it makes it much more difficult for Black males to function as men in terms of things substandard education and job opportunities thus many use sex to validate their manhood. Now to this concept of variety add the degradation and hypersexualization of black women in this society and white privilege/supremacy's function of promoting that which is white as that which is best. Male supremacy's variety takes on an another level in the context of white supremacy. Variety then becomes a hierarchy with white being on top because of its elusiveness and blackness on bottom because of its familiarity. in addition to the positive/negative media portrayal respectively.
Granted this is just a personal theory of mine. I think its pretty plain to see that this liberation struggle is very complex and multi faceted. The oppression isnt only white but also male and capitalist.
