Seriously...Damn the Olympics
I could not be happier that Chicago lost its Olympic bid.
It seems so terribly contradictory for Derrion Albert, Tyrone Williams, and Percy Day all children to lose their life in Chicago in the same month and then turn right around and promote the Olympics for the same city. These tragedies are being swept under the rug...Well Derrion Albert is being swept under the rug, Tyrone Williams and Percy Day never got from under the rug. Only reason we know about Derrion Albert is because he was an honor student and someone had video.
And before any says, "Oh the Olympics will bring so much money into Chicago that could be used to fund programs and other initiatives to help stem the violence and so on and so forth"
Im not buying that mess..The Olympics in Atl cost 1.8bil & netted a $10mil profit and who u think is gonna get the hardest by that type of burden...
Not to say that Human Rights in Brazil is much better.
But this lets you know what is important. Prestige, money, status is more important than doing the right thing.
Which brings me to point where i will stop for now. If it is not plainly obvious that only the actions of the Black community will lift the black community then take a look around. Literally we are all we got.

Thank you brotha. I am happy that we didn't get the Olympics but now I'm wondering if that will be taken out on our communities.
i would be prepared for that. Its America. First of all Chicago as a city didnt show much support for it and Rio was like 90 percent in favor. 2nd given Atl Olympics its not fiscally sound.
we need to be funneling everything we can get into our communities to prevent our own children from warring w/ each other
I applaud your focus and attention to the things that matter most, our youth. While I don't share your enthusiasm about the loss of the Olympics, I do feel where you're coming from.
Many are unaware of the type of "Economic Stimuus" an event of the manitude of an Olympics can bring.
A little more than 12 years ago, Atlanta was in dire straights. Having won an Olympics hosting bid created numerous jobs, real estate development, road and infrastructure improvements and many other real benefits to a region that continues to thrive today.
D's 2cents
For reference, Obama also mentioned this was Chicago's problem. Hello! You were over Illinois at a point, simpleton! What were you implimenting in the third largest city in the states??? Which just so happens to be the biggest in your state!?! These ridiculous murders should have never taken place, or for that matter, neven been broadcasted in this way. I see Clinton and his failures about the crack epidemic from Arkansas to Detroit...now the child murders are going rampant while you shrug your shoulders and go cower to the IOC to plead for an Olympic berth, which would have contradicted the spirit of the "games" with your treatment of your people. Pass! I agree with your blog, Nap!
