So here's my political solution for the black community

For those that don't know several other facets of our democracy (such as it being representative democracy) are present to purposefully restrict access to political power. The Founders of the United States where all "classical trained" meaning they studied Greek and Roman philosophy and sciences (which they stole from the Egyptians but thats another blog). Now no course in Greek or Roman Knowledge would be complete w/o Aristole. Aristole's writing contains his thoughts on what he felt the best form of government would be best among oligargy (rule by the elite), democracy (rule by the people, and Monarchy (rule by a king) . The least of these three according to Aristole was democracy because democracy was rule by the people demos *common people* + kratos *strength*. The Greeks and Romans often refered to the common people as the Mob; easily swayed, dumb and dangerous.

As we know Politics is a pay to play game on every level. Meaning that in order to achieve electoral success REQUIRES large sums of money that one must either provide for themselves through fundraising to cover the cost of advertising (tv/radio/paper) travel expenses (depending on the election we are talking about). Many groups come together and pool their resources and donate to campaigns to infulence politicians essential buying their cooperation. Politicians are only loyal to the people that put them in office. The is a lack of focused participation because alot of people dont vote or vote uninformed. As long as they are comfortable they are content w/ the current leadership unaware of how politcal figures and the special interests often rob their constituents blind. Thomas Jefferson said himself this (America) is government by the majority who particpate without participation from the common people, our representative democracy becomes a little more than oligarchy by default.

In my study of Goverment and politics often the black community is the odd group out. The racist state sponsored ideology, the years of economic repression, and simple fear of the black community have created ripple effects that have hurt the black community's ability or desire to participate in the poltical process. Many African Americans distrust the usefulness of politics as a way of effecting change and those that do participate do so as either democrats or republicans.

today i offer an alternative.

Stop messing with the democrats and republicans altogether. And here's why

The Republicans frankly are a racist organization. They have code worded race, they have utilized racial fear, employed a variety of lawn jockeys, coons, and sambos. Refuse to reprimand and distance themselves from bigots Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh. Not To mention that tired old Abraham Lincolon line. That alone should be enough to let you know they arent for you.

The Democrats are not much better as the Republicans are blatent racists now the Democrats were the racists way back when up until the political realignment that occured from FDR to LBJ as a result of the New Deal and Civil Rights Legislation. The second thing is that the Democratic party attempts to form a coalition of voters from such a diverse a varied set of interests it becomes increasingly difficult for them to do anything because they are pulled in several different directions at once. They lack the party discipline the Republicans have as a result of their either/or attitude and their use of polarizing tactics.

As Africans we cannot really depend on either of these groups to address our issues...then i remembered Cynthia Mckinney's bid for the Presidency. She ran on the Green Party Ticket. What Mckinney did was key and that was to stop using the oppressors machinery to achieve freedom and justice for our people. The only miscalculation that Mckinney made is not starting locally, although i think her bid was more setting an example than her trying to win.

The reason i say start locally is because your local council people have more effect on your day to day life than anyone on the national level and also have a greater ability to stay truer and ultimately more visable to the people and then build up from there.

ok ready BREAK!!!

great blog, i'll subscribe. i like ur commentary about neither party being for us. the republicans and democrats are like bloods and crips.. although they put up the front of being opposing parties when they really hold the same agenda.. we need to get out of the gangs, both in the streets and in politics.
