Oh so you just gonna send a subliminal huh Internet
Saw this ad and my face was like this is about to be that bull....but i clicked anyway. And what came up was the In Styler
I was right its that bull. Its our old friend(sarcasm) Euro-centrism
This whole ad is a diss at natural black hair and beauty.
The ad says as you can see African hair straightener. Why does African hair need to be straightened. Implying there is something with kinky hair natural people of African descent.
For those of you all who straighten your hair this is not coming at you disrespectfully however its very difficult for me to understand how you can straighten your hair when you see stuff like the above that takes shots at the beauty you possess naturally. By being complicit in this your affirming their assertion which we all know to be incorrect.
I dont get it....

I don't particularly see this as a shot at natural black hair. In the commercials for the In Styler you see more white women than black so it's not like their saying "you natural niggers need this!" However, sites like Facebook & the like (I assume this came off facebook since that's how their ads are styled) monitor your interests, groups you join, etc., make assumptions and then advertise accordingly.
And again, making the choice to straighten your hair aint affirming shit if you just like straight hair. That's like saying "You wear makeup? You shave? You have tattoos? You [insert anything that doesn't naturally happen that people do to themselves]? Oh you're not happy with the way God made you." Maybe someone just likes the way it looks. It aint always that deep.
what bothers me is the people who don't see it as a diss and claim that it's just an option for our hair. Its not an option it just detours you from your natural state. anything that is natural they have an alternative to!
its possible i may be making this more than what it is. but oppression today is more covert than overt.
but the difference is between the make up and the tattoos is that those things cross ethnic cultural boundaries. the hair not so much.
in any case it was never my intention to make accusations i was just saying how i felt
