Mourning Michael

This is a hard blog to do because with Michael Jackson's passing a tiny piece of all of us goes with him. His music is apart of a lot of people's lives and as a child of the 90s it was a part of mine. Watching his memorial service and listening to "I'll be there" in the beginning of the service was an emotional moment because you have to deal with the truth that all we have left of Michael is his music. You couldn't help but think about all of the great music as well as all the great humanitarian efforts Michael was apart of such as his humanitarian work in Africa and United Negro College Fund.

His attention was not only to the issues and problems of his people but also to the issues and problems of the world. Moreover Michael opened doors for African American entertainers/athletes/politicians. Michael through his music brought African American culture and presented it to people and places it might have otherwise never ever gone. And while there will be people who will attempt to tarnish his legacy and judge him unjustly. Consider this song.

If you skip to about 4:55 mike says the following words

"In Our Darkest Hour
In My Deepest Despair
Will You Still Care?
Will You Be There?
In My Trials
And My Tribulations
Through Our Doubts
And Frustrations
In My Violence
In My Turbulence
Through My Fear
And My Confessions
In My Anguish And My Pain
Through My Joy And My Sorrow
In The Promise Of Another Tomorrow
I'll Never Let You Part
For You're Always In My Heart."

Michael's words makes this all the more heartbreaking. He gave us so much from so young an age and only asked us to believe in him and through all of his problems i think a lot of us stopped believing. In his death lets recognize that this man lived his life under the scathing magnifying glass of the public eye since he was 10 and did so with a smile because he was doing what he loved to do and that was putting smiles on the faces of his fan. So in his death lets believe for him and his family.

RIP Michael Jackson
