Nappy Headed Black Child

So i was watching the movie Sankofa.

and watching that movie seriously made me question my faith (christianity). As i said before in my blog post Prisoner of Western Thought in an effort to re orient my thing to reflect my heritage my religious believes came into the spotlight of my self reflection.

Do i re adopt the religion of my people or stick with that which i have known all my life. Its a hard decision considering the fate of my eternal soul hangs in the balance. Since i decided to stay a Christian how do i reconcile the sprituality of my people with my distinctly European religion.

The dominant culture of this country denigrates anything that is not like it and the movie Sankofa shows that. I dont believe the sprituality of my people and the calling on my ancestors is a bad thing.

I guess i have to learn more about the rituals of my people and seek a more pure christianty than that which is modifed by church institution.

I just dont have an answer for that one yet.
