Nappy Headed Black Child

So im sitting in class and were talking about the Obama Bucks Picture complete with ribs, Kool-Aid, Watermelon and a bucket of KFC (keep in mind, I'm one of two black people in this class and the only black male in this class). Now first time I heard about it I was peeved becasue its racist. A republican womens club was passing the pic around thinking it was funny.

Now Im not so much upset cuz of the racism. I've dealt with it for much of my life. Its the thought process that enable to people to think that its okay.

A student in my class said  about the picture "its innappropriate but i dont find its racist".  Now my teacher see me about the launch in to angry black man mode and quickly changes the subject.

Now innappropriate is calling him a lil bitch. But but superimposing a photo of a man of african heritage w/ watermelon, a bucket of Kfc, a rack of ribs, and Kool-Aid is racist. It highlight a Jim Crow "Coon" image that should have died almost 50 years ago. That is clearly a derogatory raced based image. That makes it racist. I was really amazed how this reasonably intelligent (i suppose) individual rationalized this clearly racist mess as merely inappropriate. Its just beyond me
