Not going to debate facts here. Factcheck.org does a much better job.

However i am going to examine something much more important.

Behavior.

Lets examine the frame of this Debate

McCain has to do well here or pretty much be written off imo. Frankly speaking, it is not looking good for him. Peep the charts

McCain really needs to establish clear republican principles to define how to jump-start the economy in order to seperate himself from Obama in addition to giving him some credibility on the subject. After all he is a republican.

Now, Obama isn't free and clear. Obama has this tendancy towards the professor style lecture/answers and that doesnt really work in a debate setting. Brevity is the key word. He has to say what he wants to do and do so quickly so he doesnt lose his audience. Discipline is also key. Democrats thus far in the election have remained especially disciplined and tonight they need to maintain that.

And here is what happend

*****Watched the Debate*****

Obama: For the most part was consistent and specific. However he did have what i saw as some breaks in that discipline. For example when Obama asked Brokaw to have more time to rebutt a statement by McCain or when Obama made the comment that the wheel fell of the "Straight Talk Express". Those were breaks in discipline and thats not something that Obama can afford there are several groups that are still moderately unfamiliar with Obama such as older white voters. Such a break in his discipline is not going to help his cause with those sets of voters particularly when running on a campaign of Change. Obama in the previous debate was very particular in his attack on McCain and he did not show that same discipline this go around. He did show the specificity and brevity that i think he needed to

McCain: A comedian John McCain is not. I mean the jokes were incredibly bad. I mean there was no reason for McCain to say. Well Tom it wont be you (in reference to a question to about who would be their Secretary of the Treasury). In addition to this McCain was noticeably more "cheery" and amicable than he was in the last round of debates. But it came off awkward and somewhat forced. He noticeable faltered during the early part of the debate when discussing the economy and social programs. Then began to pick up speed as the debate switched to Foreign policy. However the fact is that the Economy is the dominant topic in this election right now and if McCain needs to become much more convincing in this area.

Enjoy folks...
